Message to Parents/Guardians: Room 1 is having a class Pyjama Day this Friday !  Students have worked collectively to earn a special day.  S tudents may wear their pyjamas and bring one stuffed animal to school .  They may also wear their slippers in class!  Please note that in the case of a fire drill, students will have to go outside in their slippers.   On Friday, it is also Crazy Hair Day for the entire school .  Students are welcome to participate in both should they choose.  Bravo et bon travail les amis! Messages to Parents: Tomorrow is our Library Book Exchange Day.  Please have your child return their books. On Friday, students need to dress warmly for the weather for the Terry Fox Run (in layers and in safe outdoor shoes to run in rather than winter boots or rain boots).  If it is snowing or raining lightly, we are still running outside.  (If weather is unsafe, we will be inside.)  Students also need to bring a pair of dry socks to change into afterwards. Today, we started our day off with calendar and reading.  Then, we practiced the poem Rouge.  We read Rouge together as a class and took turns reading in partners or in front of the class.  Please ask you child to read the poem to you!  Then, we played a  game called Autour du monde where we practiced putting the poem in the correct order.  During the game, we got to switch desks with our classmates.  Please ask your child about the game!  It was so much fun!  Madame read us a book called, Premier jour d'école.  Please ask your child to tell you about the story of the little mouse at school.  After recess, we practiced singing the alphabet song in French and we also practiced naming each letter of the alphabet.  We played a fun game with Madame.  The class won the game against Madame Emily.  The score was 24 to 2!  Bravo les amis!  We also played a memory game with objects found in the classroom, such as: l...

Today in the morning, we did calendar and practiced our days of the week and months of the year songs.  We listened to a song about la couleur rouge (the colour red) and learned a new poem about rouge.  We coloured and cut out the words to the poem rouge.  After recess, we continued our math activity about the number of boys and the number of girls in our class.  We discovered that we have 13 girls and 11 boys in the class.  This afternoon, we had our first music class with Madame Zdrill, followed by our first physical education class with Monsieur Trevor.  We opened Sarah's brown bag and learned that she has likes cats and have 3 at home!  We finished our day with centers. Tomorrow, we welcome you to join us for our Welcome Assembly at 8:45 am in the school gym.

First Day of School - Welcome to Grade One Today, we read a book called First Day Jitters and talked about being nervous and excited at the same time in new and unfamiliar situations.  We then toured the school including the new areas of the Learning Commons and also visited the other grade one classes.  Please ask your child about the Zen Room in the Learning Commons!  We  discussed school and class rules, decorated and coloured a shoe for our spot in the coatroom, played a name game in French called: Bonjour, je m'appelle and enjoyed the sunshine outdoors for physical education.  We had a great first day of grade one and can't wait for day two! Please check your child's blue folder for letters sent home and return the After School Transportation letter to school.  Please also read the letter about our fun brown bag activity.
