Day 12 - 12e jour d'école

Today, we started the day with calendar and reading.  Then, we heard the story about the letter I.  Next, we practiced writing the letter I (upper case and lower case).  After snack and recess, we learned a new poem about the colour BLEU.  Then we read, coloured the poem and cut out the sentences.  Tomorrow, we will play a game with this poem!  After lunch, we had gym outside with Monsieur Trevor and we practiced the Terry Fox Run and Walk.  Then, we opened Mallory's brown bag and learned new things about her.  Please ask your child to tell you one new thing they learned about their classmate, Mallory.  Next, we continued talking about how we come to school in the morning, analyzed the graph and compared the results.  We also learned about different math symbols such as greater than < and equal to =.  We are learning that math is connected to our everyday experiences!

Please ask your child to tell you the story about the letter Ii and what sounds it makes!




I am looking forward to meeting with you and your child tomorrow evening from 3:30 - 7:30 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm for our first Parent/Teacher/Student Conference.  If you have something to discuss with me privately, I will have a chair in the hallway for your child to sit while we talk.  At the conference, I will ask you to review the Student Demographic Verification Report Forms and confirm that the information if correct.  Thank you in advance for your attendance.  See you tomorrow or Friday!

Message To Parents: Further to my email sent earlier this week, I have made a change.   Students may come to school dressed in their costume on October 31st and may wear their costume for the entire school day if they wish.   Students will need to remove their costume if it is cumbersome and/or not safe for running during our gym period. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Day 1 - Premier jour d'école

First Day of School - Welcome to Grade One Today, we read a book called First Day Jitters and talked about being nervous and excited at the same time in new and unfamiliar situations.  We then toured the school including the new areas of the Learning Commons and also visited the other grade one classes.  Please ask your child about the Zen Room in the Learning Commons!  We  discussed school and class rules, decorated and coloured a shoe for our spot in the coatroom, played a name game in French called: Bonjour, je m'appelle and enjoyed the sunshine outdoors for physical education.  We had a great first day of grade one and can't wait for day two!
