Day 5 - 5e jour d'école

Today, we started our day off with calendar and reading.  Then, we practiced the poem Rouge.  We read Rouge together as a class and took turns reading in partners or in front of the class.  Please ask you child to read the poem to you!  Then, we played a  game called Autour du monde where we practiced putting the poem in the correct order.  During the game, we got to switch desks with our classmates.  Please ask your child about the game!  It was so much fun!  Madame read us a book called, Premier jour d'école.  Please ask your child to tell you about the story of the little mouse at school.  After recess, we practiced singing the alphabet song in French and we also practiced naming each letter of the alphabet.  We played a fun game with Madame.  The class won the game against Madame Emily.  The score was 24 to 2!  Bravo les amis!  We also played a memory game with objects found in the classroom, such as: les ciseaux, le crayon de cire, la colle, une gomme à effacer etc.  After lunch, we had gym with Monsieur Trevor.  Then, we played a math game with dice to practice subitization (recognizing at a glance).  We finished our day matching numbers 1-9 to cupcakes and candles.
