Next Library Book Exchange is Tuesday, January 28th.
Hello families,

Our ultimate goal as teachers and parents is to raise lifelong readers.

On Thursday, February 6th at 6:30 pm, parents are invited to Varsity’s first Literacy Night.

Parents and guardians are invited to Join teacher Mme Jennifer McCann for a session covering how children learn to read, what the current research tells us is most effective and important, and how to best support your child.  A question and answer period will follow.

Although this presentation is best suited for parents with students in K-3, anyone is welcome to attend.

On Monday, January 20th, sales for our VAS Yearbook will begin online. Yearbooks are $15.00 per copy and families can order using their PowerSchool account. Students have already begun putting the book together and are excited to share the final product in June. Sales will only last until Friday, January 31st – so folks are encouraged to not delay. The purchase of a yearbook is completely optional. Attached is a copy of the letter that was sent home to families along with our sales poster for this year.

Aujourd'hui, we got to tisser les foulards et we got to make whatever pattern we wanted and we did les bonhommes de neige et we are making the scarves for our bonhommes de neige et parents volunteered. -Aria B

Aujourd'hui, we had helpers for the snowmen.  It was Amy, Madame Claire, Jennifer, Eli, Michelle, Kari and Lesley and  we started making les bonhommes de neige foulards and it was a short day at school. -Sammy

Message To Parents: Further to my email sent earlier this week, I have made a change.   Students may come to school dressed in their costume on October 31st and may wear their costume for the entire school day if they wish.   Students will need to remove their costume if it is cumbersome and/or not safe for running during our gym period. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Day 1 - Premier jour d'école

First Day of School - Welcome to Grade One Today, we read a book called First Day Jitters and talked about being nervous and excited at the same time in new and unfamiliar situations.  We then toured the school including the new areas of the Learning Commons and also visited the other grade one classes.  Please ask your child about the Zen Room in the Learning Commons!  We  discussed school and class rules, decorated and coloured a shoe for our spot in the coatroom, played a name game in French called: Bonjour, je m'appelle and enjoyed the sunshine outdoors for physical education.  We had a great first day of grade one and can't wait for day two! Please check your child's blue folder for letters sent home and return the After School Transportation letter to school.  Please also read the letter about our fun brown bag activity.
